My Adventures in Chile

This Summer I went to Chile for a vacation with my family. When we got to the airport we had to run in order to make the plane ride because my sister forgot one of her bags, so we had to go back to the house to get it. Luckily, we made it in time because we missed like all of the red lights, and made almost all of the green lights. The plane ride was so long, but it was all worth it once we got to Chile. There we did many things like visit the Atacama Desert, Araucania, and Chillan.

The first thing we did once we got there was go to the Atacama Desert. There we learned that it is one of the biggest deserts in the world, and it hasn't rained there in like 2,000 years. Since it hasn't rained in that long it is so dry, but every once in a while the ocean mist will spray the cacti. That's the only reason that cacti still grow there. In the Atacama desert we got to see the city of Capiapo. It was beautiful because we got see all of the beaches there. We also saw some of the coolest animals there, and got some of them on our cameras. Visiting the Atacama desert was one of the coolest things I've ever done.

A couple days after we visited the desert we went to Araucania. There we went to a lot of the volcanoes and hot springs. Unfortunately, we didn't get to ski or snowboard because we went in the Summer instead of the Winter. There we also got to eat some of the best tasting chocolate at one of the hotels! Even though that was delicious, I loved the kayaking on the lakes! Overall, Araucania was so fun I wish I could go there over and over again.
One of the last things we did was visit the town of Chillan. There my mom went to what she said was one of the best spas because it overlooks snow-capped Cordillera and the hot springs. While my mom was in the spa my dad, sister, and I went climbing. We did that so that we had a little relaxation, but mostly excitement! I'm so glad that we went to Chillan because it was one of the best experiences ever!
When the week was over my family and I were so disappointed because we wanted to stay much longer than we did! I'm so glad that we got to see the Atacama desert, Arauncania, and Chillan. It is one of the best experiences ever, and I will never forget it!

My trip to Argentina ( Elizabeth F.)

This summer I went to Argentina and it was pretty fun. The whole thing started first day of summer when we were at dinner. That night Mom explained that we were going on a trip to Patagonia, Argentina, for the first month of summer and I thought that it was going to be super mega boring. The worst part was that we were leaving the next day, I felt we were going to a Spanish speaking prison.

After we landed in Argentina, I whispered softly in the most sarcastic voice possible, "Let the fun begin," and put on a big smile to try to show how much fun I was having fun already. When we arrived at the Faro Hotel, we had to see my cousins on my dad's side of the family there yay (not). I started to listen to epic rap battles of  history (Cleopatra vs. Marilyn Monroe) when Mom called and asked me if I wanted the spa with my aunt. I admit that it was enjoyable and I feel more relaxed after that. After a few hours, dinner came around and the food was unbelievable. It was so good I ate like half of everything there. I don't know what was the best there but the fish was divine.

The next day we went to the town and saw people wearing the same clothing like back home. We went shopping and got some things for our friends back home with our budget at 168 ARS (Argentine peso) or 20 dollars in US currency. I got as many key chains as possible for each of my friends with enough for a small toy for myself . After that we went to a cafĂ© near by ( I forgot the name ) and it was yummy. Everyone spoke Spanish there,  my mom had to translate most of what they said ( having 8 college credits worth of Spanish and 4 years of high school ) and what we said. The next 2 weeks we stayed there and nothing much happened during that time but it was fun. When the last week of being here came around, we went to the beach for 3 days with 1 day to get to the airport.

Here is a quick summary of what happened here. Day one, we took surfing lessons from an English speaking teacher, after 2 hours of lessons, we surfed but it was getting late and we had to get to get back to the seaside hotel. Day two we grabbed the complimentary surfboards the hotel gave us and we surfed all day, it was pretty fun (despite falling in the water several hundred times) . Day 3 we played on the beach for half of the day and the other half in the hotel mainly napping and playing Minecraft on my iPhone. This morning we had to wake up at 3 am ( I felt tired beyond anything at this point ). It was a long drive, but at this point, I had lost track of time. The next thing I knew we were back home. That was my trip to Argentina and it was super fun.
